Hollywood star Bruce Willis announced on Wednesday that he was “walking away” from his acting career following a diagnosis of aphasia, a medical term for the loss of ability to understand or express speech.
The 67-year-old celebrity’s family released a statement on the development.

“[To] Incredible Bruce Supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has had health issues and was recently diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” it read. in the press release. “As a result, and with great consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that meant so much to him.”
“This is a truly difficult time for our family and we very much appreciate your continued love, compassion and support,” the statement continued. “We’re going through this as a strong family unit and we wanted to bring in his fans because we know how much he means to you, just like you mean to him.”
“As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up,’ and together we plan to do just that,” added the statement, which was written on behalf of the actor’s wife, Emma, from his ex. -wife Demi Moore and their daughters, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel and Evelyn, according to Fox News.
News of Willis’ diagnosis comes just days after his March 19 birthday.
The Mayo Clinic describes aphasia as a medical condition that “usually comes on suddenly after a stroke or head injury, but can also appear gradually as a result of a slowly growing brain tumor or disease that causes permanent and progressive (degenerative) damage”.
