Medical report, others expected to get bail for Sunday Igboho – Lawyer

Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) anxiously awaits an official medical report and other documents needed for his lawyers to file a bail application on his behalf.

According to The Punch, one of 11 attorneys supposed to represent Igboho said members of the legal team decided to file a strong bail application that would not be dismissed by the court.

The lawyer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “The preliminary reports we are receiving from the medical team show that Igboho is in need of medical attention. They said he looks physically strong, but his condition is not improving. He was limping during Monday’s hearing.

“We are awaiting an official report. This is part of what we will present for his bail application. “

Igboho and his wife were arrested on Monday July 19, 2021 by the International Criminal Police Organization at Cadjèhoun airport in Cotonou, Republic of Benin, while on their way to Germany. His wife was later released, while Igboho has been in detention since.

He was declared wanted by the Nigerian State Service Department when he fled in a raid on his Ibadan residence on July 1 and was placed on Interpol’s watch list.

When contacted, one of the lawyers for Yoruba Nation agitator Olasupo Ojo said lawyers were weighing different choices on the Igboho case.

However, he declined to give a specific date for filing the activist’s bail application, who faces new charges.

Ojo said: “The initial allegations are dead. We have achieved the goal we set for ourselves in the first place – to stop the illegal extradition of Sunday Igboho.

“We have different options that we are considering apart from applying for bail. I cannot disclose these options now.

” He is fine. The doctors saw him. His wife also brings him food. His right to be a prisoner is respected. His lawyers also have access to him. We have no problem.

On Igboho’s state of health, the lawyer said: “He has no more complaints now. It is taken care of. “
