EastEnders icon Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) was left in distress on Tuesday’s episode (April 6) as she broke the bad news to her husband Martin Fowler.
Following her recent miscarriage, Ruby learned that she may have endometriosis, which can affect her fertility.
Last week, the owner of the nightclub confessed that she worries that Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) will never have children.
Like Jean, she sympathized with her daughter’s ex-best friend but begged her to withdraw her statement from the police.
Ruby claimed it was too late and as a result Stacey Slater was sent to jail for a year after being accused of pushing Ruby down a staircase and causing her miscarriage.
Martin Fowler and his wife Ruby must now take care of Stacey’s three children, although the eldest daughter Lily seeks to destroy her new stepmother.
Last night’s edition of the BBC One soap opera saw Ruby be heartbroken as she found out Lily and Hope had cut up her late mother’s wedding dress.
She hastily ordered Lily out of her house, and tonight’s episode saw the fallout continue, as Martin returned home to find himself caught in the midst of the heated confrontation.
Martin tried to get Ruby to understand why Lily didn’t mean harm, but an emotional Ruby revealed her MRI results had returned.
His endometriosis is confirmed to be severe. “That’s what we thought,” she told Martin. “Endometriosis is severe.”
She added: “I’m trying to understand the fact that I may never be a mom.”
